An evening of Audience Participation and Musical Co-Creation with The Evoke Ensemble and Members of Symphony NH.
The Evoke Ensemble, the popular Boston -based jazz/fusion quintet and popular mainstays of The Riverwalk Cafe in Nashua, will join forces with members of Symphony New Hampshire to present "Symphon-Evoke", a program of musical audience participation.
After a set performed by The Evoke Ensemble, four members of Symphony NH will take the stage for a presentation that includes the creative forces of the audience members in songwriting, musical co-creation and collaboration. The musicians will share the creative process of composing and improvising with audience members helping to conjure up, on the spot, the compositions and improvisations for the
band to perform. Guided by The Evoke Ensemble's Lennie Peterson and Tim Paul Weiner, the evening is designed for an audience of all ages from all walks of life, helping people to demystify the musical process of composition and even help think more creatively in their daily lives.
“This is not your average open mic night!", says Evoke's trombonist Lennie Peterson. "Instead of the audience members being on stage with us, we have them actually take the reigns in composing the music to be played. And no one in attendance needs to know music theory or anything about composition or improvisation. If they know the alphabet and can count to 10, they're in!”
The results are a night of entertainment and creativity mixed in with the joy of the collaborative process in making music.
