One of Montreal, Canada's favorite jazz bands is touring the U.S. for the first time. Led by Brandon Goodwin, B's Bees plays an inspired program of inspired and highly topical straight-ahead jazz. Set One features compositions by the late master Charlie Haden. Jazz lovers take note, DownBeat is featuring a new book on Haden in the March 2017 issue. You'll want to add his music to your playlist if it isn't there already! You'll hear tunes such as "Silence," "Chairman Mao," "Song for Che" and "Els Segador."
The second set features the group's own Kanata Suite. Their freshman self-titled album was released in 2015 charted very high on radio in Canada and beyond. While the Bees continue to play top festivals and concert venues in Montreal, their United States tour takes them from the Northeast to the Mid-Atlantic and South to New Orleans, where they'll work with Delfeayo Marsalis before their next recording.
The touring band features Brandon Goodwin on drums, Alec Safy on bass, Joe Ferracuti on piano and Julien Sandiford on guitar.
